This Wave-Themed Katana is a custom-made sword completed for a customer, combining a traditionally inspired folded blade with coordinated blue, black, and brass-toned koshirae.
The blade was forged from modern steel using traditional folding and forging techniques, creating a visible hada (grain pattern) across the surface. It was then clay tempered to produce a genuine hamon, giving the blade both traditional visual character and depth.
The fittings are made from cast brass and follow a wave-inspired theme. The tsuka is fully wrapped in genuine rayskin with Emperor Nodes and finished with Japanese-made genuine silk tsuka-ito, using hishigami beneath the wrapping for a more structured and secure finish.
A Japanese Rayon Kakucho Sageo complements the blue tsuka-ito, while the black sparkling lacquer saya with buffalo-horn fittings completes the overall mounting.
