Description
Authentic Nihontō Japanese Sword Katana Signed by Noshu ju Kanehisa 濃州住兼久作 NBTHK HOZON TOKEN Certificate
The difference in width between the base and tip of the blade is not very pronounced, with a slightly extended kissaki. From the machi upwards, the overall sori is shallow, but the sori in the nakago suggests it is a tachi and katana combination from the latter part of the 室町後期 (late Muromachi period).
The jihada is a well-forged mokume with dense grain and attached ji-nie, featuring chikei. The hamon is a bright and clear gunome-midare, resembling gourds, with notable sunagashi and thick ashi. The boshi is irregular and flame-like, curving round at the tip.
The included koshirae shows no looseness in the tsuka. When unsheathed and handled, the balance is centered towards the hand, indicating good maneuverability. There is tsuba rattling.
Bare weight: 695 grams.
Weight with koshirae and without saya: 950 grams.
