Description
Authentic Nihontō Japanese Sword Katana Signed by Naritomo 成就 NBTHK TOKUBETSU HOZON TOKEN Certificate
成就 (Naritomou) was a swordsmith active in 越中の国 (Etchu Province) around the late Edo period, specifically during the 安政 (Ansei) era.
This sword has a well-proportioned width difference between the base and tip, an extended mid-section, and a long tang (nakago). It features a bo-hi on both sides, with a robust width and thickness. The steel is well-forged with a mixture of ko-itame and mokume hada, displaying dark chikei and thick ji-nie. The hamon is a bright and clear notare mixed with gunome, showcasing kinsuji and inazuma in the blade, with ashi and fine sunagashi visible. Notably, the blade has a large, irregular pattern near the monouchi on the omote side. The boshi is straight with a rounded tip on both sides, making this a superb piece for artistic appreciation.
The name 成就 (Naritomo) can also be read as "Naritomo," which means "to achieve" or "to accomplish." Thus, this sword is recommended as a good luck charm for those starting a new venture, studying, or striving towards a goal.
*There is a very small chip on the monouchi.
Bare weight: 881 grams.
