Description
Collectable Katana Tenshō | High Carbon Steel | Hitatsura Full Tempering | Hitatsura Hamon | Polished Edge | Black Starlight Gloss Lacquer Saya | Hourglass-shaped Tsuka
The Tenshō Katana is forged from high carbon steel using traditional water quenching techniques that create the dramatic Hitatsura Hamon. Unlike conventional clay-tempered blades where only the edge is hardened, the Hitatsura style produces irregular hardened patches across the entire blade, including the ji and even the shinogi area, giving it a bold and untamed aesthetic. Forged in the timeless shinogi-zukuri style with graceful curvature and a defined kissaki, this blade embodies both resilience and the fiery spirit of late Sengoku craftsmanship.
The mountings are executed in the distinguished Tenshō Koshirae style. A solid iron mokko-gata tsuba provides both durability and austere beauty, while the fuchi-kashira are crafted from water buffalo horn, emphasizing strength and functionality. The koiguchi (scabbard mouth) is reinforced with buffalo horn, ensuring lasting endurance. The tsuka is wrapped in black composite leather ito over genuine rayskin, with hishigami reinforcement forming a precise diamond pattern for both aesthetics and grip security.
The saya is finished in a polished black starlight gloss lacquer, shimmering subtly under light to complement the bold Hitatsura hamon. Paired with a matching black sageo, the scabbard completes the design in unity, presenting a katana that is as imposing as it is historically evocative.
