Description
Custom Iaido Sword Stainless Steel Unsharpened Blade Practice Katana
This custom Iaido sword features an unsharpened stainless steel blade, designed for Iaido practice, kata training, and practitioners who prefer the more substantial handling characteristics of a steel-bladed katana.
Unlike lightweight alloy-blade Iaito, the stainless steel blade provides greater weight and blade presence, giving the sword a handling feel closer to a Shinken (真剣). The additional mass allows practitioners to experience more realistic momentum, balance, and feedback during kata, making it a suitable choice for those who want to train with the feel of a steel katana while retaining an unsharpened edge.
The stainless steel construction also provides excellent corrosion resistance and relatively easy maintenance. Compared with traditional high-carbon steel blades, it is more resistant to rust caused by humidity, fingerprints, and regular handling, making it practical for frequent training and long-term ownership.
The blade is produced in a traditional katana-style profile and is supplied unsharpened, making it intended primarily for Iaido, kata, controlled martial arts practice, display, and collection rather than cutting.
Standard 71 cm Blade Length – Custom Length Available
The standard blade length is approximately 71 cm (27.95 inches), offering proportions suitable for a typical katana and providing a balanced combination of reach, weight, and handling.
For practitioners with specific requirements, the blade length can also be customized. A different nagasa can be produced according to the customer's height, training style, personal preference, or dojo requirements.
Each sword can also be customized with a wide selection of Japanese-style fittings and mounting options, including tsuba, fuchi-kashira, menuki, tsuka-ito, samegawa, sageo, saya finishes, and other koshirae components.
Because this model is intended primarily as a Practice Katana, the emphasis is placed on realistic steel-blade handling, durability, corrosion resistance, and ease of maintenance rather than cutting performance.
Each sword is individually assembled and fitted, combining the substantial feel of a steel blade with customizable Japanese-style koshirae. It is particularly suitable for Iaido practitioners, martial arts students, and enthusiasts who prefer an unsharpened practice sword with a weight and handling character closer to a Shinken than a lightweight alloy Iaito.
