This katana is forged from T10 high-carbon steel and traditionally clay tempered to produce a natural hamon, achieving an excellent balance of edge hardness, toughness, and cutting performance. Designed for practical use, it is well suited for tameshigiri (test cutting) and martial arts training, offering reliable edge retention along with long-term structural durability.
The blade features clean lines and a refined polish that clearly reveals the hamon along the hardened edge. A single bo-hi (fuller) is carved into the blade, reducing overall weight and improving balance. During swings, it generates clear tachikaze feedback, helping practitioners evaluate cutting angle and technique while enhancing handling responsiveness.
The koshirae follows a restrained, performance-oriented aesthetic. The iron tsuba is simple and robust, avoiding excessive decoration and reinforcing the katana’s functional character, allowing the blade itself to remain the visual focus.
The saya is finished in glossy black lacquer accented with subtle gold-fleck detailing, adding depth without sacrificing understatement. A brown sageo completes the scabbard, creating a warm, traditional contrast consistent with classical Japanese color harmony.
