Katsuie katana is named in honor of Shibata Katsuie (1522–1583), one of the most distinguished generals of Japan's Sengoku period and a loyal retainer of Oda Nobunaga. Renowned for his courage, unwavering loyalty, and steadfast character, Katsuie became a symbol of perseverance and martial honor. Bearing his name, this katana reflects the strength, discipline, and timeless spirit of the samurai tradition.

Forged from T10 high-carbon steel in traditional Maru-zukuri construction, the blade offers excellent durability and dependable cutting performance. Through traditional clay tempering, it develops a graceful Real Notare hamon, whose gentle undulating temper line flows naturally along the edge with quiet elegance. Finished in an authentic sashikomi polish, the blade faithfully preserves the natural beauty of the hardened steel while revealing the genuine hamon. Combined with a tight-fitted tsuka core and well-balanced Niku geometry, Katsuie delivers both traditional aesthetics and reliable performance for cutting practice.

The koshirae is centered around a black iron sukashi tsuba featuring an elegant composition of flowing water and cherry blossoms. The design symbolizes the harmony between the fleeting beauty of sakura and the enduring flow of time. The fuchi and kashira, crafted from blackened white copper (patinated cupronickel), are decorated with delicate vine motifs, representing growth, resilience, and lasting prosperity. A brass habaki completes the mounting with a precise fit while adding a subtle warm contrast to the dark fittings.

The tsuka is wrapped in deep blue cotton ito over genuine white samegawa, creating a refined contrast while providing a secure and comfortable grip. The saya is finished in a traditional Black Ishime lacquer, whose finely textured stone-like surface offers understated elegance and excellent durability. A matching deep blue sageo completes the koshirae, harmonizing beautifully with the tsuka and reinforcing the sword's calm, balanced character.
