Kiyomasa is a katana from the Huo Series, embodying discipline, spiritual symbolism, and understated strength. Forged from T10 high carbon steel in traditional Maru-zukuri construction, the blade is designed to deliver excellent cutting performance while preserving the elegant lines and balance expected of a Japanese sword. Its restrained appearance conceals a powerful and resolute character, reflecting the unwavering spirit associated with its namesake.
The blade is clay tempered and features a genuine Notare Wave Hamon, whose gentle undulations flow gracefully along the edge like waves moving across calm waters. Produced through traditional differential hardening, the hamon provides both visual depth and a reminder of the harmonious balance between hardness and resilience that defines a well-made katana.
The koshirae is centered around a Black Iron Tsuba with Nine Syllable (Kuji) Openwork. The kuji motif, rooted in esoteric Buddhist traditions and samurai practice, symbolizes spiritual focus, protection, and inner strength. Its bold openwork design lends the sword a sense of mystery and disciplined energy. Complementing the tsuba is the Jūji Kikkō Fuchi and Kashira, crafted from white copper and decorated with a geometric pattern of crosses and tortoise-shell motifs. Traditionally associated with longevity, protection, and steadfastness, this pattern reinforces the sword's theme of resilience and enduring strength. A brass habaki secures the blade firmly and adds a subtle warmth to the otherwise dark and understated mounting.
The tsuka is wrapped in black cotton ito over genuine samegawa, creating a classic monochromatic appearance while providing a secure and comfortable grip. The saya is finished in a deep Gloss Black Lacquer, its polished surface reflecting light with quiet elegance and emphasizing the sword's refined, disciplined character. A black sageo completes the mounting, creating a unified aesthetic that is both timeless and dignified.
Kiyomasa is a katana that speaks through restraint rather than extravagance. With its genuine Notare hamon, spiritually inspired Kuji tsuba, and dignified black koshirae, it represents focus, inner strength, and unwavering resolve—an ideal sword for practitioners and collectors who appreciate traditional symbolism and refined simplicity.
