Description
Performance Katana Koi Surge with Maru Blade, Polished Edge with Decorative Hamon, Black and Gold Lacquered Saya and Genuine Rayskin
The Koi Surge is a performance-grade katana forged in Maru construction from modern steel, offering superb durability and responsive handling. Designed for tameshigiri (test cutting) and traditional martial arts practice, it embodies a seamless balance of refined elegance and practical strength.
The blade features a smooth, polished edge that accentuates its clean geometry and precise cutting performance. A single bo-hi lightens the blade and enhances balance, producing a crisp tachikaze (audible feedback) with every swing. The alloy tsuba is intricately carved with koi fish and flowing water, evoking vitality, perseverance, and the fluid grace of nature. A matching alloy kashira continues the aquatic motif, lending harmony and symbolic depth to the fittings.
The saya is adorned with a striking black-and-gold crackle lacquer finish, reminiscent of rippling water and shimmering koi scales. Paired with a brown sageo and ito wrapped tightly over genuine rayskin, it provides both aesthetic harmony and a secure, reliable grip. A brass kojiri completes the elegant koshirae, adding a warm metallic accent.
An ideal choice for practitioners and collectors alike, the Koi Surge blends modern craftsmanship with a poetic design inspired by Japanese tradition and the natural world.
