Description

KSA “Hua” Series Katana – Masamune | Folded Steel (Damascus) Clay Tempered Blade | Real Wave Hamon | Gloss Black Lacquer Saya | Genuine Rayskin | Authentic Kissaki Structure

Masamune is a katana from the Hua Series, defined by refined power, flowing elegance, and a timeless sense of nobility. Forged from folded steel in traditional Maru-zukuri construction, the blade reveals a subtle jihada beneath its surface—an expression of repeated folding and careful refinement that lends the steel remarkable depth and a living, organic character. The overall form remains graceful and balanced, embodying both strength and sophistication in equal measure.

The blade is clay tempered, displaying a genuine Notare Wave Hamon that moves along the cutting edge like rolling ocean swells. The gentle undulations of the hamon create a sense of calm rhythm and natural movement, while the delicate jihada produced by the folded-steel construction harmonizes beautifully with the temper line, together expressing the enduring artistry of traditional Japanese swordsmithing.

The koshirae is centered around a brass tsuba featuring a tiger motif, a symbol of courage, authority, and unyielding spirit in East Asian tradition. The fuchi and kashira, crafted from white copper and decorated with a Jūji Kikkō (Crossed Tortoiseshell) pattern, introduce an element of geometric refinement and auspicious symbolism, representing longevity, resilience, and enduring prosperity. A brass habaki secures the blade firmly, creating a seamless transition between the polished steel and the warm tones of the mounting.

The tsuka features wine-red cotton ito wrapped over genuine samegawa, producing a rich and dignified contrast that evokes both passion and restraint. The saya is finished in a Gloss Black Lacquer, its deep reflective surface lending the sword a sense of quiet authority and timeless elegance. A black sageo completes the mounting, reinforcing the cohesive and disciplined character of the overall design.

Masamune is not merely a display piece—it is an expression of refinement, balance, and enduring craftsmanship. With its genuine Notare hamon, symbolic fittings, and harmonious combination of deep black and rich crimson tones, it embodies both serenity and strength, crafted for practitioners and collectors who appreciate traditional artistry, meaningful symbolism, and an elegant yet commanding presence.
