KSA “Huo” Series Katana – Masashige | Hand-Forged T10 High Carbon Blade | Clay Tempered with Real Wave Hamon | Full Tang | Hand-Fitted Fittings | Genuine Rayskin | Authentic Kissaki Geometry | Brown Ishime Saya | Tight-Fitted Tsuka Core | Cutting Practice Ready
Named Masashige, this katana embodies loyalty, resilience, and understated elegance, paying tribute to the enduring spirit of the legendary samurai. Forged from T10 high-carbon steel, the blade offers exceptional hardness and edge retention while maintaining the refined proportions and balance characteristic of traditional Japanese swords.
The blade is differentially hardened using the traditional clay tempering process, revealing a genuine Notare Wave Hamon that flows gracefully along the cutting edge. The gentle undulations of the hamon resemble rolling waves, lending the blade a sense of movement and serenity while showcasing the beauty of traditional Japanese heat-treatment techniques.
The koshirae is centered around a round black iron tsuba with delicate sakura openwork. The subtle cherry blossom cutouts symbolize the fleeting beauty of life and the warrior's appreciation for impermanence, a recurring theme throughout Japanese culture. Its understated black finish gives the sword an elegant and timeless appearance.
Complementing the tsuba is a set of Karakusa Fuchi-Kashira, crafted from white copper and adorned with flowing arabesque motifs. The continuous vine pattern of karakusa has long been associated with prosperity, continuity, and enduring fortune, adding a layer of symbolic meaning and refined craftsmanship to the mounting.
The tsuka is wrapped in brown cotton ito over genuine rayskin, providing a secure grip and a warm, natural color palette. The sword is housed in a Brown Ishime Saya, whose stone-textured lacquer finish evokes the quiet beauty of earth and wood. Paired with a brown sageo, the mounting achieves a harmonious, subdued aesthetic that reflects the calm dignity of classical samurai swords.
Masashige is a katana that celebrates simplicity, loyalty, and timeless refinement. From its authentic notare hamon and elegant sakura tsuba to its graceful karakusa fittings and earthy brown stone-textured saya, every detail has been thoughtfully composed to create a sword of quiet strength and enduring beauty.
