Description
KSA “Hua” Series Katana – Nobunaga | Folded Steel (Damascus) Clay Tempered Blade | Real Wave Hamon | Black Red-Speckled Saya | Genuine Rayskin | Authentic Kissaki Structure
Nobunaga is a katana from the Hua Series, defined by commanding presence, restrained strength, and timeless martial elegance. Forged from folded steel in traditional Maru-zukuri construction, the blade reveals a subtle jihada beneath its surface—an expression of repeated folding and careful refinement that gives the steel remarkable depth and character. The overall form remains balanced and purposeful, embodying both authority and refinement in equal measure.
The blade is clay tempered, displaying a flowing Notare Wave Hamon that undulates gently along the cutting edge like distant rolling waves. The graceful temper pattern brings a sense of rhythm and continuity to the blade, while the delicate jihada created through the folded-steel construction complements the hamon naturally, together expressing the enduring beauty of traditional swordsmithing.
The koshirae is centered around a black openwork wheel motif iron tsuba, a design that symbolizes movement, continuity, and the cyclical nature of fortune and destiny. The fuchi and kashira, crafted from white copper and decorated with a fan-shaped seigaiha (ocean wave) motif, introduce a sense of calm and enduring prosperity, balancing the martial character of the sword with a refined aesthetic. A brass habaki secures the blade firmly, adding a subtle warmth against the darker tones of the fittings.
The tsuka features deep brown cotton ito wrapped over genuine samegawa, creating an earthy and dignified appearance that evokes a sense of maturity and quiet confidence. The saya is finished in a black lacquer with red speckles, its dark surface illuminated by vivid crimson flecks reminiscent of embers glowing in the night, lending the sword an atmosphere of restrained intensity and noble authority. A black sageo completes the mounting, reinforcing the cohesive and disciplined character of the overall design.
Nobunaga is not merely a display piece—it is an expression of authority, balance, and enduring spirit. With its flowing Notare hamon, symbolic fittings, and commanding contrast between darkness and crimson, it embodies both power and composure, crafted for practitioners and collectors who appreciate traditional craftsmanship, meaningful symbolism, and a bold yet sophisticated visual presence.
