Description
KSA “Jiang” Series Katana – Nobunaga | Folded Steel (Damascus) Clay Tempered Blade | Real Wave Hamon | Black Red-Speckled Saya | Genuine Rayskin | Authentic Kissaki Structure
Nobunaga katana is named in honor of Oda Nobunaga (1534–1582), one of the most influential daimyō of Japan's Sengoku period. Renowned for his visionary leadership, military innovation, and determination to unify Japan, Nobunaga transformed the course of Japanese history and became a lasting symbol of strength, ambition, and authority. Bearing his name, this katana pays tribute to his enduring legacy through a design that reflects power, refinement, and traditional Japanese craftsmanship.
Forged from folded steel in traditional Maru-zukuri construction, the blade reveals a refined jihada created through repeated folding and careful forging. Through traditional clay tempering, it develops a flowing Real Notare hamon, whose gentle undulating temper line moves naturally along the cutting edge like distant rolling waves. The folded steel grain and authentic hamon complement one another, showcasing the timeless artistry of traditional Japanese swordsmithing.
The koshirae is centered around a black iron tsuba featuring an openwork wheel motif, symbolizing movement, continuity, and the cyclical nature of fortune. The fuchi and kashira, crafted from white copper (cupronickel), feature a fan-shaped Seigaiha motif representing peace and enduring prosperity. A polished brass habaki completes the mounting, adding a subtle warmth to the dark fittings.
The tsuka is wrapped in deep brown cotton ito over genuine white samegawa, creating a warm and dignified appearance while providing a secure and comfortable grip. The saya is finished in a distinctive Black Red-Speckled Lacquer, where vivid crimson speckles are scattered across a deep black lacquer surface, creating a bold yet refined appearance. A matching black sageo completes the koshirae, reinforcing the sword's disciplined and balanced character.
