Description
KSA “Hua” Series Katana – Shingen | Folded Steel ( Damascus) Clay Tempered Blade | Real Wave Hamon | White Speckled Lacquer Saya | Genuine Rayskin | Authentic Kissaki Structure
Shingen is a katana from the Hua Series, defined by understated elegance, flowing movement, and harmonious contrast. Forged from folded steel in traditional Maru-zukuri construction, the blade reveals a subtle jihada beneath its surface—an expression of repeated folding and careful refinement that gives the steel both visual depth and a distinctly organic character. The overall form remains balanced and graceful, offering a refined presence in both handling and display.
The blade is clay tempered, displaying a gentle Notare Wave Hamon that flows along the edge like rolling waves. The undulating temper line brings a sense of calm rhythm and continuity, complementing the refined geometry of the blade. The delicate jihada created through the folded-steel construction harmonizes naturally with the flowing hamon, together expressing the beauty and vitality inherent in traditional Japanese swordsmithing.
The koshirae is centered around a black Musashi-style iron tsuba, inspired by the timeless simplicity and martial spirit associated with Miyamoto Musashi. The fuchi and kashira, crafted from white copper and finished with a wood-grain motif, introduce a natural warmth and understated sophistication to the mounting. A brass habaki secures the blade firmly, creating a subtle visual transition between the polished steel and the darker fittings.
The tsuka features purple cotton ito wrapped over genuine samegawa, producing a striking yet dignified contrast that evokes both nobility and tranquility. The saya is finished in a white speckled lacquer, its finely textured surface recalling scattered snow or drifting stars against a night sky, lending the sword a quiet and distinctive presence. A black sageo completes the mounting, reinforcing visual balance and preserving the disciplined character of the overall design.
Shingen is not merely a display piece—it is a study in movement, balance, and refined craftsmanship. With its flowing Notare hamon, elegant contrast, and carefully chosen fittings, it embodies serenity and strength in equal measure, crafted for practitioners and collectors who appreciate subtle beauty, traditional symbolism, and a commanding yet restrained aesthetic presence.
