KSA “Jiang” Series Katana – Sōrin | Hand-Forged T10 High Carbon Blade | Clay Tempered with Real Hitatsura Hamon | Full Tang | Sashikomi Polish | Hand-Fitted Fittings | Genuine Rayskin | Authentic Kissaki Geometry | Red Ishime Saya | Tight-Fitted Tsuka Core | Martial Arts Practice
Sōrin is named in honor of Ōtomo Sōrin (1530–1587), the renowned Sengoku daimyō of Bungo Province. Remembered for his political vision, military leadership, and patronage of culture, Sōrin left a lasting legacy in Japanese history. This katana bears his name as a tribute to his strength, wisdom, and enduring influence.
Hand-forged from T10 high-carbon steel, the blade is clay tempered to produce a striking Real Hitatsura hamon, where hardened patterns extend dramatically across the blade surface. Finished in an authentic sashikomi polish, the blade naturally reveals the genuine hamon while preserving the traditional beauty of Japanese sword polishing. Combined with a full-tang construction, authentic kissaki geometry, hand-fitted fittings, and a tight-fitted tsuka core, Sōrin offers excellent balance and dependable cutting performance.
The koshirae is centered around a brass Maru-gata tsuba featuring a layered lotus petal motif, symbolizing purity, harmony, and spiritual refinement. The fuchi and kashira, crafted from white copper (cupronickel), feature a traditional Mokume wood-grain texture, adding natural warmth and understated elegance to the mounting.
The tsuka is wrapped in black cotton ito over genuine white samegawa, creating a timeless black-and-white contrast while providing a secure and comfortable grip. The saya is finished in a vibrant Red Ishime lacquer, whose stone-textured surface combines durability with refined character. A matching black sageo completes the koshirae, reinforcing the sword's balanced and dignified appearance.
