Description
KSA “Hua” Series Katana – Tadakatsu | Folded Steel (Damascus) Clay Tempered Blade | Real Wave Hamon | Red Ishime Saya | Genuine Rayskin | Authentic Kissaki Structure
Tadakatsu is a katana from the Hua Series, defined by fearless spirit, noble symbolism, and a commanding visual presence. Forged from folded steel in traditional Maru-zukuri construction, the blade reveals a subtle jihada beneath its surface—an expression of repeated folding and careful refinement that lends the steel both depth and vitality. The overall form remains balanced and purposeful, embodying the quiet confidence and enduring strength associated with the warrior's path.
The blade is clay tempered, displaying a genuine Notare Wave Hamon that flows gracefully along the cutting edge like rolling waves beneath a calm sky. The undulating temper line brings a sense of movement and natural rhythm to the blade, while the delicate jihada produced through the folded-steel construction harmonizes beautifully with the hamon, together expressing the timeless artistry of traditional Japanese swordsmithing.
The koshirae is centered around a dragon motif Kiku-gata brass tsuba, combining the imperial elegance of the chrysanthemum with the power and majesty of the dragon. Symbolizing nobility, courage, and divine protection, the design lends the sword a dignified yet formidable character. The Sakura Ishime fuchi and kashira, crafted from white copper, introduce a gentle seasonal contrast through delicately sculpted cherry blossoms and a finely textured stone finish. A brass habaki secures the blade firmly, complementing the warm tones of the mounting.
The tsuka features brown cotton ito wrapped over genuine samegawa, creating a natural and understated appearance that evokes stability, maturity, and quiet strength. The saya is finished in a Red Ishime lacquer, its richly textured surface radiating warmth and vitality while recalling the lacquered armor and martial banners of Japan's warrior tradition. A golden sageo completes the mounting, adding a touch of elegance and auspicious contrast to the bold red and dark fittings.
Tadakatsu is not merely a display piece—it is an expression of courage, honor, and enduring spirit. With its genuine Notare hamon, symbolic dragon and chrysanthemum motifs, and striking combination of crimson and gold, it embodies both martial power and refined beauty, crafted for practitioners and collectors who appreciate traditional craftsmanship, meaningful symbolism, and a commanding yet elegant presence.
