KSA “Jiang” Series Katana – Yasumasa | Hand-Forged T10 High Carbon Blade | Clay Tempered with Real Hamon | Full Tang | Sashikomi Polish | Hand-Fitted Fittings | Genuine Rayskin | Authentic Kissaki Geometry | Green Ishime Saya | Tight-Fitted Tsuka Core | Martial Arts Practice
Yasumasa is named in honour of Sakakibara Yasumasa (榊原康政, 1548–1606), one of the celebrated Four Heavenly Kings of Tokugawa. A trusted retainer of Tokugawa Ieyasu, Yasumasa distinguished himself through military service and became known for his loyalty, discipline, and battlefield ability. This katana bears his name as a tribute to his steadfast character, martial strength, and dedication to his lord.
The blade is hand-forged from T10 high-carbon steel and traditionally clay tempered to produce a genuine Choji Hamon through differential hardening. Finished with Sashikomi polish, the blade presents a refined traditional appearance while allowing the natural hamon to remain clearly visible. Its full-tang construction and authentic kissaki geometry provide both structural reliability and a traditional Japanese sword profile.
The koshirae features a brass Maru-gata tsuba with a layered lotus petal motif, paired with darkened cupronickel Kyō Ajiro fuchi-kashira. The tsuka is tightly wrapped in blue cotton ito over genuine black samegawa, creating a deep and distinctive contrast while providing a secure and comfortable grip.
A Green Ishime saya adds depth and texture to the mounting, while the matching blue sageo brings visual continuity to the tsuka. The combination of green, blue, black, and warm brass gives Yasumasa a composed and dignified appearance that reflects the disciplined character of its namesake.
