KSA “Jiang” Series Katana – Yoshikage | Folded Steel (Damascus) Clay Tempered Blade | Sanbonsugi Hamon | Sashikomi Polish | Black Ishime Saya | Genuine Rayskin | Authentic Kissaki Structure
Yoshikage katana is named in honor of Asakura Yoshikage (1533–1573), the last lord of the Asakura clan and a respected daimyō of Japan's Sengoku period. Remembered for his appreciation of culture, craftsmanship, and the samurai tradition, this katana bears the name Yoshikage as a tribute to his enduring legacy. It was created to celebrate the enduring traditions of swordsmithing through a harmonious blend of classical craftsmanship and understated elegance.
Forged from folded steel using traditional techniques, the blade reveals a refined forged grain created through repeated folding and forge welding. Through traditional clay tempering, it develops a distinctive Sanbonsugi hamon—the celebrated three-peaked temper line of the Mino tradition, admired for its rhythmic pattern and dynamic presence. Finished in an authentic sashikomi polish, the blade naturally showcases both the flowing hada and the genuine hamon while preserving the classical beauty of Japanese sword polishing. Combined with a traditional full-tang construction and authentic kissaki geometry, Yoshikage offers both refined aesthetics and dependable performance.
The koshirae is centered around a Mokkō-gata brass tsuba featuring the Hidari Mitsudomoe crest. A symbol of harmony, protection, and the perpetual cycle of nature, the three swirling tomoe create a bold yet elegant focal point. The fuchi and kashira, crafted from white copper (cupronickel), feature the classic Jūji Kikkō pattern, inspired by the hexagonal form of a tortoise shell and traditionally associated with longevity, resilience, and good fortune.
The tsuka is wrapped in black cotton ito over genuine white samegawa, creating a timeless black-and-white contrast while providing a secure and comfortable grip. The saya is finished in a traditional Black Ishime lacquer, whose stone-textured surface offers understated elegance and excellent durability. A matching white sageo completes the koshirae, echoing the white rayskin and bringing harmony to the overall mounting.
