KSA “Huo” Series Katana – Yoshitsune | Hand-Forged T10 High Carbon Blade | Clay Tempered with Real Wave Hamon | Full Tang | Hand-Fitted Fittings | Genuine Rayskin | Authentic Kissaki Geometry | Green Ishime Saya | Tight-Fitted Tsuka Core | Cutting Practice Ready
Named Yoshitsune, this katana captures the elegance, agility, and legendary spirit associated with one of Japan's most celebrated warriors. Forged from T10 high-carbon steel, the blade combines exceptional hardness and cutting performance with the refined balance and graceful proportions of a traditional Japanese sword.
The blade is differentially hardened through the traditional clay tempering process, revealing a genuine Notare Wave Hamon that flows naturally along the cutting edge. The gentle undulations of the hamon evoke the movement of rolling water, bringing a sense of serenity and rhythm to the blade while showcasing the beauty of authentic Japanese heat-treatment techniques.
The koshirae is centered around a black mokkō-gata iron tsuba with openwork wave motifs. The timeless mokkō-gata silhouette is paired with elegant wave cutouts, symbolizing resilience, continuity, and the ever-changing flow of nature. The subdued black finish lends the sword a sophisticated and understated appearance.
Complementing the tsuba is a set of Seigaiha Fuchi-Kashira, crafted from white copper and decorated with the traditional seigaiha, or “blue ocean waves,” pattern. A symbol of peace, good fortune, and endless prosperity, the repeating wave motif has long been cherished in Japanese art and craftsmanship, adding both cultural depth and visual harmony to the mounting.
The tsuka is wrapped in brown cotton ito over genuine rayskin, offering a secure and comfortable grip while introducing a warm, earthy contrast to the darker fittings. The sword is housed in a refined Green Ishime Saya, whose stone-textured lacquer finish evokes the quiet beauty of moss-covered forests and mountain landscapes. Paired with a green sageo, the mounting achieves a harmonious natural palette that feels both elegant and timeless.
Yoshitsune is a katana that celebrates grace and perseverance. From its authentic notare hamon and wave-themed iron tsuba to its symbolic seigaiha fittings and tranquil green stone-textured saya, every element has been thoughtfully composed to create a sword that embodies the enduring spirit and refined aesthetics of the Japanese warrior tradition.
