Yoshitsune katana is named in honor of Minamoto no Yoshitsune (1159–1189), one of Japan's most legendary military commanders. Celebrated for his extraordinary tactical brilliance, remarkable agility, and unwavering courage, Yoshitsune became a timeless symbol of the ideal samurai. Bearing his name, this katana pays tribute to his enduring legacy through a design that embodies elegance, discipline, and traditional Japanese craftsmanship.
Forged from T10 high-carbon steel, the blade offers excellent durability and dependable cutting performance. Through traditional clay tempering, it develops a graceful Real Notare hamon, whose gentle undulating temper line flows naturally along the edge with quiet elegance.
The koshirae is centered around a black Mokkō-gata iron tsuba featuring elegant openwork wave motifs. The flowing wave design symbolizes resilience, continuity, and the ever-changing rhythm of nature. The fuchi and kashira, crafted from white copper (cupronickel), feature the traditional Seigaiha pattern, whose layered ocean waves represent peace, prosperity, and an enduring future.
The tsuka is wrapped in brown cotton ito over genuine white samegawa, providing a secure and comfortable grip while introducing a warm, natural contrast to the dark iron fittings. The saya is finished in a traditional Green Ishime lacquer, whose stone-textured surface reflects the quiet beauty of forests and mountain landscapes. A matching green sageo completes the koshirae, creating a harmonious and timeless appearance.
